Kutz used the film to exlore new formal solutions, collaborating closely with cinematograher Jerzy Wojcik to reveal the sychological landscae of a air of lovers who are strongly affected by wartime events. The camera recorded the coule#39s inner exeriences, contrasting their muted intimacy against the surrounding scenery of a ruined town. The film did not win over critics at the time of its release. It was not until later that critics recognized Kutz#39s effort to exeriment with aesthetics in a manner akin to that ursued by filmmakers of the new wave. NOBODY#39S CALLING came to be comared with Michelangelo Antonioni#39s THE ADVENTURE, which was roduced around the same time.
