剧情介绍：

　　退休教师宋玉华和老伴沈力耕教子有方，培养的三个儿女纷纷在外打拼，事业有成。宋玉华自老伴去世后，不能适应“出门一把锁，进门一盏灯”的生活孤独而抑郁。儿子沈越因出国考察没能见上父亲最后一面心中愧疚，将她接到杭州家中以尽孝，可是媳妇徐丽精打细算，事事争强，婆媳矛盾不断。在上海的大女儿沈梅瞒着老妈离婚又再婚，并失去了孩子抚养权，而敢爱敢恨的小女儿沈湘却大胆追求前姐夫柴海青，这让母女、姐妹之间冲突大发。生日宴上，儿女们因故缺席，老妈在亲友面前大失颜面，赌气去当保姆，一篇“空巢老人离家当保姆”的报道引发社会舆论，让儿女们抓狂。沈越见岳父被儿子气死，他深感“子欲养而亲不待”的愧疚，决定放弃外派提拔，守在母亲身边。沈梅因家暴再次离婚，身心憔悴，又查出尿毒症。前夫柴海青捐肾相救，两人破镜重圆。沈湘也终于找到了自己的爱情并专做老年人电视节目。在儿女的孝顺中老妈积极面对生活，享受生命的每一天。
